Merthyr Tydfil

Hello and welcome to the Disability Sport Wales page for Merthyr Tydfil.

My name is Dan Bufton and I am the Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Merthyr Tydfil. You can find me at Merthyr Leisure Centre based in the Sports Development department.

If you have a disability and want to take part in sport in Merthyr we have a range of inclusive and disability specific activities available and you can find information about these activities on this page. Our programme caters for a wide age range, with activities available from the age of 2 years old.

If you are a local club / organisation and want to offer inclusive provision Disability Sport Wales have introduced insport. insport is a four tiered (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold)  accreditation process which any sports club can go through to show they are committed to providing inclusive sport. As your local officer I can support clubs through this process and help promote the activity to potential participants.

If you would like to get involved in coaching or volunteering there are a range of opportunities and we are always keen to recruit new people on to the programme.  There are potential coach education opportunties too.

So whatever your situation, or even if you just want to learn a bit more about what we do, get in touch and we can help you out.
