Cerebral Palsy Sport are hosting 2 development days in the North Wales region for children and young adults with cerebral palsy or a physical disability, supported by Swim Wales and the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust. Please click on the links below for more information:
Swimstart Development Days provide swimmers with a safe and supportive environment to experience swimming, often for the first time. A number of coaches, volunteers and physiotherapists will be on hand to support swimmers with activities tailored specifically for participants with cerebral palsy. Sessions last one hour and are open to all ages.
Swimstart Development Days also incorporate training for parents, coaches, volunteers and physiotherapists in providing accessible and safe activities for children with cerebral palsy. Workshops take place before the practical session for swimmers and involve a one and a half hour classroom based session, followed by a further hour on pool side.
Swimming Development Galas are aimed at swimmers with cerebral palsy or a physical disability who have some experience of an aquatic environment. Open to ages 7 and up, a range of relaxed and competitive races are held over a 3 hour afternoon session. This provides an ideal environment for those looking to develop their skills in a safe environment and experience the excitement of a competitive event.
To reserve a place, please return a registration form and photo consent form via email or post (available via website). Entry fees, where applicable are payable by cheque or BACS prior to the event. Closing date for entries is one week before each event and swimming gala race entry forms will be returned to you once your booking has been confirmed. For more information, please visit the swimming or event pages on our website.
Please remember, volunteers are always welcome at all of our events and many of these could not take place without this type of support. If you are interested in volunteering at a CP Sport swimming event, please do not hesitate to contact me via the below.
If you have any questions about the events above, cerebral palsy or swimming more generally please feel free to get in touch.
