Gill Mota - Thank You!

After the recent announcement of Team GB for this year’s World Championships and following Volunteers’ Week 2017, we wanted to give a special thank you to one individual who has been an integral part of the team for over 11 years.

Gill Mota is a nurse who has spent over 20 years working alongside patients with life changing spine and brain injuries in Rookwood Hospital, Cardiff. However, her passion for helping and caring for people with disabilities is not contained within the realms of her workplace.  Gill voluntarily goes above and beyond expectations to support our athletes as they compete in various locations throughout the world.

Gill’s compassionate nature means she often adopts the role of ‘Mum’ to our athletes during competitions. Her wealth of experience ensures that athletes’ individual needs are met and that they receive the support that enables them to compete to the best of their ability. Gill has travelled the world supporting our athletes, including attending numerous Paralympic and Commonwealth Games.

Jon Morgan, CEO of DSW said “Gill’s role is so important to the development of our athletes. During competitions athletes know they can depends on Gill and this reassurance can be crucial to their performances.”

DSW strongly feels that Gill is an incredibly valued member of our team. She is pivotal to the development of young athletes and has been instrumental to our success in recent years. Thank you Gill for the 100s of hours you put in to support our athletes, we appreciate everything you do.
