Hollie wins Gold in London
Hollie Arnold broke her own world record in the F46 javelin in a golden hour for Great Britain on Saturday night to claim a third successive world title.
Arnold added one centimetre on to her world record as she completed a hat-trick of world titles, having won in 2013 and 2015. The Paralympic champion threw 43.02m in her fourth throw.
“The crowd was amazing, and it lifted me so much. My goal was to become a triple world champion and doing that in front of a home crowd was amazing.”
The GB captain said “I felt good but I didn’t realise it would go so far, not the world record anyway. That was a fantastic series of throws for me. I went out there to smash it and I did,”
“It was great to get the world record. I knew that fourth throw was close but I wasn’t sure if I’d got it. The support of the crowd was absolutely amazing and I am proud of myself. It felt great to win the gold in front of my family and friends at this stadium”
Looking ahead to today’s action, Aled Sion Davies hopes to add to his medal haul and defend his F42 discus world title which starts at 10.03am.
