Welcome to the Disability Sport Wales Website for the City and County of Swansea.

My name is Carly James and I am the Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Swansea. I am based within the Sports Development department at Swansea Council.

If you have a disability and want to take part in sport in Swansea we have existing inclusive and disability specific provision available ranging from surfing to boccia, karate to wheelchair basketball, and cycling to visually impaired football, to mention but few.

If you are a local club / organisation and want to offer inclusive provision Disability Sport Wales have introduced insport. insport is a four tiered (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold)  accreditation process which any sports club can go through to show they are committed to providing inclusive sport. As your local officer I can support clubs through this process and help promote the activity to potential participants.

If you would like to get involved in coaching or volunteering there are a range of opportunities and we are always keen to recruit new people on to the programme. To support new coaches and volunteers we offer training through the UK Disability Inclusion Training Course (UK DIT) which is currently available in Wales. If you would like to have a course organised for your club/organisation within Swansea please get in touch or visit our website to check for upcoming dates within the region.

So if you want more information, advice or support on how to get involved in disability sport in your community, simply get in touch and we can help you out.
