Welcome to Wrexham's page on the Disability Sport Wales Website. I'm Terri Ritchie, Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Wrexham.
Wrexham has good disability sport provision, offering a variety of sporting opportunities for disabled people. You can either join a Club or participate in a pay and play session on a weekly basis, with sports ranging from Swimming to Wheelchair Rugby.
insport is a National programme across Wales aimed at Clubs, National Governing Bodies and Local Authorities. insport is split in to four tiers (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold) and the achievement of each standard is dependent upon the demonstration of attainment of specific criteria.
insport Club aims to engage all sports clubs across Wales and challenges them to consider their provision; inclusive or disability specifc. insport Club encourages clubs to consider their delivery practices, structural provision and policy and ensure that opportunities are open to disabled people within the community. It is a widely recognised programme and many clubs are already working towards insport Club so if you would like your Club to be insport accredited, then please let me know.
Also, UK Disability Inclusion Training (UK DIT) is available for coaches and volunteers to up skill on delivering inclusively and the areas surrounding disability sport.
I update the website on a monthly basis with news, events and up coming courses to please check regularly or contact me for more information.
