The new Toyota Parasport fund opens today and will be delivered in partnership with the British Paralympic Association, Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, Disability Sport Wales and Scottish Disability Sport.

In Wales, Toyota is working with Disability Sport Wales and Sport Wales to assist clubs working towards one of the standards of insport Club with FREE access to inclusive education and training.  This collaborative approach ensures that clubs volunteers across Wales are supported to thrive and to keep developing their inclusive offer to disabled children, young people and adults.

Toyota want everyone to discover the benefits of a more active lifestyle - meeting friends, building confidence and becoming more physically fit, whilst supporting mental wellbeing. Therefore, the application of the Toyota Parasport Fund in Wales will focus on the provision of free to access workshops across Wales. These workshops have been selected to complement the insport Club programme and ensure clubs are best supported to deliver quality inclusive opportunities across Wales. These will include;

  • Disability Inclusion Training
  • Autism Awareness
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Adults at Risk Training

This fund is part of Toyota’s partnership with Parasport.org.uk, which seeks to make it easier for disabled people across the UK to get active. Any clubs in Wales who have achieved an insport Club standard can promote their inclusive opportunity through the site.

Andrew Cullis, Toyota GB Marketing Director said: “We are extremely proud to launch the Toyota Parasport Fund as the next step in our support of inclusive sport and activity in the UK.

“Alongside our partners from Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, Disability Sport Wales and Scottish Disability Sport, we have a fantastic opportunity to improve the options available to disabled people to get active and make a lasting impact on the grassroots landscape.”

Tom Rogers, Disability Sport Wales Senior insport Project Officer said: “Through the insport Club programme, Disability Sport Wales aim to support the ongoing development of inclusive provision across Wales. The launch of the Toyota Parasport fund, and the resulting free to access education and training provision, will further support clubs providing quality opportunity to disabled communities across Wales.”
