GOGA Pembrokeshire

Welcome to the Pembrokeshire Get Out Get Active section. My name is Jessica West and I’m the Get Out Get Active (GOGA) Activator for Pembrokeshire.

What is GOGA?

Launched in 2016, Get Out Get Active (GOGA) supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together. Funded by Spirit of 2012, all partners are focused on getting some of the UK’s least active people moving more through fun and inclusive activities.

There are three GOGA localities within Wales each with a different focus. GOGA Pembrokeshire offers an exciting mix of disability inclusive outdoor activities.

GOGA Pembrokeshire:

The location of Pembrokeshire is a great backdrop for outdoor activities. It provides amazing opportunities for fun activities using both the land and sea!

This includes activities such as Surfing, Stand Up Paddle boarding, Beach cleans, Map reading, Woodland walks, and Sailing, to name a few!

GOGA also provides volunteering, training and community engagement opportunities with local and national organisations’ to support the delivery of the programme and increase the number of inclusive opportunities available.

Since GOGA Pembrokeshire began in 2017 we have seen a large increase in the number of people who are able to access and enjoy local opportunities. GOGA has clear benefits for all involved!

PARTICIPANTS:

We welcome you to come and try fun and inclusive outdoor activities! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done activity before! It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, make friends or bring friends and family to join in with you!

VOLUNTEERS:

There are plenty of rewarding things to get involved with, sometimes being able to do further learning courses which can help you upskill and progress through life.

PARTNERSHIPS:

GOGA supports and listens to providers to empower them to deliver the best experience within the Get Out Get Active program. GOGA can provide training and help develop transferable skills. This has already seen increases in employment and community engagement.
