Phil Pratt to captain GB Wheelchair Basketball team at European Championships

The top twelve men’s teams in Europe will compete in Wałbrzych, Poland from 30th August to the 9th September 2019 in a bid to secure one of the four spots available in the wheelchair basketball competition at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

Phil Pratt, who won Disability Sport Wales Male Athlete of Year this summer will once again Captain the squad as they focus on the European Championships and qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Commenting on his squad selection and looking towards the August European Championships, GB Head Coach Haj Bhania OBE commented:

“As a team we are in a very good place. The last year has been incredible for the GB team and demonstrated what we are capable of, however by no means has it allowed us to sit still. We are only as good as our next game, and as a squad we fundamentally understand this.

“This team has been relentless in their determination to push forwards and improve as individuals but also as a team. In Hamburg we laid bare that Championships are won by the team, not just one player.”

The Team GB, number 11 will Captain his team to their first game against Italy on the 31st August at 18:00 (BST).
