Caroline Matthews returns as Head Coach for the Men's 3X3 Team for a second term, joined by James Coyle-King as Women's Head Coach and Jo Coates-McGrath as Team Manager.
Returning to the role, Caroline is "thrilled and feel incredibly honoured to take on the role of Head Coach for the Welsh men’s 3x3 wheelchair basketball squad in our campaign for the Commonwealth Games 2026." Caroline led the men's team in the qualification campaign for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and fielded the youngest team at the qualification event. Four years on Caroline is excited for the opportunity to help athletes fulfil their potential and to raise the profile of the game in Wales.
As Women's head coach, James brings experience from across all age groups in wheelchair basketball, having recently led the Men's U18 Wales Team at the National Junior Championships in 2024. James is looking forward to "an interesting and intense several months" as he looks to make his selections for the women's training squad.
Finally Jo draws on her wealth of experience in team management from a range of sports to support both teams in their Commonwealth campaign, leading on logistics and team communications. Jo is "excited to support a talented group of players in representing their Country in this thrilling sport."
Player expression of interest for the programme remains open until the 19th of May.
