Diolch yn Fawr Recognitions

The period since March 2020 has been unprecedented, and consequently has meant that individuals and groups have had to be resilient, determined and creative in the ways that they have managed life within social and environmental restrictions.

This has been particularly evident within the worlds of physical activity (including sport).  For many providing opportunity within inclusive physical activity (including sport) has meant doing things in ways, with equipment, and with environments which would never had crossed our minds had it not been for the impact of the pandemic.

The purpose of this recognition is therefore to celebrate some of the outstanding achievements and impacts made by people for people in Wales, so that they can continue to be connected, to participate in activity, to train, and to compete over the past 18 months.  A way of saying ‘Diolch yn Fawr’ to someone who has made things better.

You can nominate people, organisations, teams, clubs, or groups who you feel have made a difference, been creative, and ensured disabled people have continued to have opportunities and connections through physical activity throughout all aspects of the pandemic.

You can nominate:

• Anyone who has created an impact for disabled people or individuals within active recreation, physical activity and/or sport
• An individual, a team, an organisation, a group, a club, a family, a school, a leisure provider, a health practitioner, etc (anyone as long as the impact has been with physical activity)
• For something which they have done between 1^st April 2020 and 31^st March 2022

What we’re looking for:

• A 30 – 60 second video of your Diolch yn Fawr in Welsh, English, BSL, Makaton or other language

• This should include:

  • the first name and surname of the person/people you want to say Diolch yn Fawr to

  • why you are saying Diolch yn Fawr

  • why the person/people did what they did

  • what difference they made to you, or the people you are representing

To nominate, please:

• Record a video in LANDSCAPE on your smartphone, tablet, computer, or other device
• Make sure the video includes the information required in the ‘what we are looking for’ section above
• Include in the WhatsApp text or email text:
  • Your name
  • Contact Details (telephone or email address)
  • Local Authority area

We will use edited versions of your video nominations within the DSW Virtual Awards evening on Friday 24^th June 2022.  Please ensure that you have appropriate permissions for anything you use in your Diolch yn Fawr.
