2021 School Games National Finals selection event for the Welsh squad announced

The School Games will take place at Loughborough University from 2-5 September 2021

The Wheelchair Basketball competition will be played with the 3x3 format and will feature separate boys’ and girls’ competitions. 

With the return of the School Games now only two months away, athletes of school age who are interested in representing Wales at the School Games are invited to attend the trials at Sport Wales National Centre on 24 July 2021.

The Boys trial will be run by Coach Caroline Matthews MBE from 11.00 – 13.00 and the Girls trial will be run by Coach Mike Hayes from 14.00 – 16.00

To be eligible to compete for Wales at the 2021 School Games, you must fulfil all of the below criteria:

  • Aged 17 or under on 31 August 2020 
    • the youngest age a player must be is 13 at Midnight on 31st August 2021
  • Must be registered as a paid BWB member with BWB for the 2021/22 season
  • Must hold a player licence for the 2021/22 season. 
  • Must have been within full-time education in the 2020/21 Academic year. 

 

You must also fulfil one or more of the following criteria:

  • Has permanent residency within the Country (e.g. home address)
  • Born in the Country
  • Has one or more parents born in the Country (including adoptive parents)
  • Registered Player in a team that is situated within the Region (e.g. Senior National League; Women’s League; Junior League)
  • Attend a school / college / university that is situated within the Region

All athletes interested in attending the trials must sign-up in advance via Playwaze.

Welsh Girls

All trials will be managed in line with the BWB Return to Play Guidance.

Please note: To attend a selection camp, athletes need to be a BWB 2020/21 Member (this includes 2021 Pre-Season Membership).
