The British Paralympic Association (BPA) have today put out an invitation for cities and venues to tender for a UK Preparation Base that will host the 2013 and 2014 Paralympic Potentials Preparation Programme in advance of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

The aim of the preparation camps is to introduce athletes and staff to a multi-sport environment which will enable them to thrive at Games time to achieve their personal best and produce medal winning performances.

Camps are planned to be held in the UK in August 2013 and 2014. Venues will be assessed on their provision of world class training facilities, accommodation, catering, medical facilities and technical and ancillary facilities and services.

Tim Hollingsworth, Chief Executive of the BPA, said: "The camps that we have delivered in previous cycles have been credited by our athletes for providing crucial support in their preparations for the Paralympic Games, enabling us to deliver our best prepared ParalympicsGB team to compete on the world stage. In seeking a partner to host our camps in the next cycle, we are looking to maintain this performance edge for our elite athletes, enabling us to be one of the leading Paralympic nations in the world."
