Disability Sport Wales has announced today it is to provide financial support for a Welsh deaf swimmer as she prepares to compete at the World Deaf Swimming World Championships in Texas in August. this much needed support will contribute to the essential funds needed to participate at the event.

Denbighshire based swimmer, Emily Noden is an established member of the Great Britain squad, has already competed in the Deaflympics in 2013 as well as European Deaf Championships and the World Deaf Swimming Championships. The 18 year old, currently a student at Deeside College, has been raising funds needed to attend the World Championships, is delighted with this added boost to her fundraising efforts. 

Emily Noden said: 'Thank you so much to Disability Sport Wales for funding £1000 towards the World Deaf Swimming Championship in Texas this August! This money will help to cover the cost of accommodation, travel expenses and nutrition.'

Gareth John MBE, Chairman for Disability Sport Wales commented, "Disability Sport Wales is pleased to be able to support Emily to attend the World Championships in Texas. Deaf Sport is an important movement providing competitive opportunities for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. We take an inclusive approach to our sports, and are delighted that Wales will be represented at this event. We wish all the best to Emily".
