Happy LGBT+ Pride Month

Dragons RFC have successfully achieved the Disability Sport Wales insport partnerships Ribbon award as recognition of their commitment to inclusion and increasing sporting opportunities for disabled people.

insport is a Disability Sport Wales programme, which supports sport and physical activity sector partners, to continuously improve, to meet the needs of local disabled people. There are four progressive insport Standards, designed to support partners to become more inclusive in their delivery, through a quality assured process that checks, challenges and develops each organisation’s approach to creating a single, integrated and inclusive sports system for Wales. Throughout the four Standards (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold), each partner is supported by Disability Sport Wales to grow their expertise and understanding of disability sport.

The Ribbon award recognises how Dragons RFC have begun to embed the principles of inclusive delivery throughout their organisation. Feedback from insport panel members highlighted how the Dragons RFC have a fundamental commitment to inclusion at all levels of the organisation and recognised they provide an array of inclusive programmes throughout the Gwent area.

Fiona Reid CEO, Disability Sport Wales said we are delighted that the Dragons RFC have achieved insport partnerships Ribbon. Their achievement reflects a lot of effort and commitment, and we look forward to supporting the Dragons RFC as they strive to reach insport partnerships Bronze.

Mike Sage, Head of Community, said: “As a club we are very proud of our community & inclusion impact across Gwent. It is a privilege to provide inspiring opportunities for our Dragons Family and inclusion is at the heart of all our engagements. There is a place for everyone to be a valued member of our Dragons Family at Dragons RFC.

DSW has been great in supporting our inclusion journey and to be acknowledged with the Ribbon insport award, has given us the drive to strive for the next level, to gain our Bronze Award.”
