The Vision of Wales Deaf Sports (WDS) is to enable deaf people to reach their full potential and transform their lives through sport.

The Values of Wales Deaf Sports are Dedication, Encouragement, Ambition and Fairness. Welsh Deaf Sports are committed to developing more opportunities for deaf people to benefit from sport and physical activity.

Inspired by Welsh Government’s ‘Well Being of Future Generations Act (2015)’ we want to support more deaf people, of ALL ages to  regular participate in sport and physical activity, whether through play, volunteering, coaching ort wants to develop a (deaf) sports pathway which ultimately will deliver a successful  , healthier and more active Wales.

Working in partnership with UK Deaf Sport and Disability Sports Wales, Wales Deaf Sport seeks to provide a strategically coordinated approach to sport, reflecting the shared vision of our partnership.

The membership of WDS has developed a strategy which takes into consideration the objectives of WDS, UK Deaf Sport and Disability Sports Wales, along with other stakeholders who can help us achieve our ambition. This strategy has also been informed by the WDS’ wider insight into the needs and aspirations of deaf people in Wales.

WDS is now looking to recruit a freelance consultant to achieve our objectives over the next 18 months, which are as follows;

  • Support the establishment of a working group that will focus on the further development, implementation and achievement of plans relating to the Wales Deaf Sport Strategic Objective 1 “Every Deaf Person Involved in Sport For Life”
  • To work closely with partner organisations to successfully increase participation and to ensure deaf people excel in sports across Wales
  • Develop and implement tools to assist in identifying unmet levels of demand
  • Link in with established networks to effectively promote activities and initiatives that engage effectively with the deaf community.
  • To raise the profile and awareness of opportunities, structures and successes within deaf sport

If you are an innovative and energetic professional with a sound knowledge of the Deaf community and a comprehensive understanding of the sports landscape in Wales and across the UK then this could be a fantastic opportunity for you.
