World para-champion Olivia Breen claimed Commonwealth Games Gold in the women's T38 long jump final.
After fouls in rounds 1 and 2, Paralympian Olivia Breen showed her experience to jump a Games record of 4 metres 56 in round 3 to move ahead of Australian rivals Cleaver and Doyle. It was mark that no-one could get close to, and with the Gold medal already secure, she pulled out a fantastic last round leap of 4 metres 86, a personal best and new Games Record.
Breen repeated her London 2017 victory over Australia's Erin Cleaver. She beat Cleaver to gold at the World Para-athletics Championships in London by 20cm, and the victory was more conclusive this time around with a winning margin of half a metre.
Breen said: "It is a dream come true.
"After the Paralympics in Rio, Commonwealth Games was my aim and I have done it and I am so happy.
"With the last jump I just went for it after three no-jumps and I hit it."
In addition, the Mixed B2/B3 Pairs of Julie Thomas and Gilbert Miles lost their fourth round match in Section A down at Broadbeach Bowls Club in the first match of the day, finishing 18-6 to Australia.
Coming up on Day 5 – Julie Thomas and Gilbert Miles are back In action at 03.15 (UK Time), as are the B6-B8 Triples who take start their match at 11.00.
In athletics, World and Paralympic Champion Hollie Arnold will take to the field in her first Commonwealth Games in the F46 Javelin at 10.00. Rhys Jones will also be in action at the Carrara Stadium at 10.00 as he hopes to make an impact in the T38 100m.
