Inclusive physical activity opportunities for adults in lockdown
With Adults spending more time at home and finding it can be very hard to find the motivation, confidence and knowledge of where to find/ or how to keep moving and be active.
Being active is so important to a person’s mental and physical health – and we have compiled a short list of activities that you could access during this time.
RESOURCES AND LINKS FOR KEEPING ADULTS ACTIVE
- The Welsh Rugby Union have put together a series of inclusive sessions you can follow together at home https://community.wru.wales/video/jersey-for-all/
- Disability Sport Wales have a number of live sessions throughout the week like Yoga which you can join in by registering here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/disability-sport-wales-25766897481
- Age Cymru recommend that older adults don’t sit still for longer than an hour as this can have a negative impact on someone’s health and have some resources to help guide someone through exercising at home including Low Impact Functional Training and Tai Chi https://www.ageuk.org.uk/cymru/our-work/physical-activity/

- Sport Cardiff have worked with Met Sport to develop a range videos of short fitness sessions to complement the Active at Home packs that are currently being delivered across the City. There are standing and seated workouts using resistance bands. People receive resistance bands in the pack, but people without a pack can either purchase themselves a resistance band online for a few pounds or can do all the exercises without the band. - Walking Well Carmarthenshire is an initiative which aims to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take advantage of the physical, social and mental health benefits offered by walking in groups of like-minded people.
