Following their poor performance the weekend before the Jets were determined to play the way they know they can. Dave Robertson made a welcome return to the squad having been unavailable for the previous fixture and the Jets certainly turned up ready to play at their home venue. The Jets started the game in true style with Robertson and Jackson taking it in turns to score and take the Jets to a 10 – 0 lead in 6 minutes.  The Jets pressed Bolton and denied them many scoring opportunities and it was the eighth minute before Bolton could get a score.

Ballard-East, Doyle and Flanagan then all added baskets ending the quarter 22-4.   The 18 point lead allowed the Jets to make some changes to their line up and Pete Grime came into the action for Flanagan and played a good solid game – showing he is continuing to improve game by game.  Jackson and Robertson took the Bulls by their horns and added 17 points between them to the total for the quarter with Ballard-East adding to her tally and Bolton only scoring in the second minute of the quarter, taking the Jets in at half time with a 41-4 lead.    After half time the Jets had chance to run all their bench and give players some valuable court time and allow the team to try some different combinations on court.

Robertson, Ballard-East and Doyle continued to work hard and the Jets stretched their lead to 54-8 at the end of the third quarter thanks to a last minute basket from Grime.   The fourth quarter saw the Jets comfortably in the lead and the bench players again gained court time with Nate Williams scoring his first basket of the season in a league match. The Jets then returned to their starting five players and they closed the game with baskets from Robertson and Doyle to close the game 68-12.   This was an excellent performance by the Jets – Bolton struggled as they only had five players and lacked height in the key.  Jets varied their game and created some great baskets.    Jets next game is against Vikings in Kirby on Sunday October 29th.   Team – Anna Jackson-Captain, Dave Robertson, Christine Doyle, Caroline Ballard-East, Billy Flanagan, Pete Grime, Nate Williams, Andy Hickey, Ian Powell   Scorers  - Robertson 25, Ballard-East 13, Jackson and Doyle 12, Flanagan, Williams and Grime 2.   For more information visit www.chesterwheelchairjets.org.uk
