The Steelers got off to a flying start against a lethargic Jets team and the scoring was done by their excellent player’s Ghanami & Tschernaiwsky before the Jets scored their first basket from Caroline Ballard East.

The Steelers then did a brilliant 2 man press and caused  the Jets to turn the ball over again and again and appeared to be a team lacking experience and confidence.  The Jets conceded baskets until a single reply from Anna Jackson near the end of the 1st. Quarter leaving the score  12-4 to the Steelers.   The Jets came out for the 2nd quarter and started playing a little better and imposed a press on the Steelers but still Ghanami & Tschernaiwsky were scoring. Then Chester tightened their grip on the quarter and fine shooting from the floor by 4 of the players put the Jets back in the game and they won the quarter 10-6 and so the score finished 18-12 to the Steelers.

The 3rd. quarter was tough for both teams and they traded baskets but the Jets poor finishing inside the key was to blame and also the Steelers 2 man shooting machine was on fire and the only Jets replies came from Ballard East, Jackson and Flanagan and the score finished at 36-18 to the Steelers.   The final quarter saw both teams introduce their benches and the Jets played all their squad over the full game and still the Steelers were pressing and shooting well and then the Jets put on more pressure in a press and this seemed to work and started scoring again and the scorers were Flanagan, Ballard East and Peter Barron and the match finished 46-30 to the Steelers.

Scorers as follows: Billy Flanagan 10, Caroline Ballard East 8, Anna Jackson 6, Peter Barron 4, Christine Doyle 2

Chester coach Peter Barron said after the game that his team were not focused that day and had a "bad day at the office" and a team gets that now and then and the Jets were due a bad game but cannot afford to lose another game in their push for promotion to the 2nd. Division next season. I also must compliment the Steelers on their display they made a good team look bad and also played as a a team, they are a credit to the game and will go far this season and are a joy to watch.   Team - Peter Barron- Coach, Anna Jackson - Captain, Christine Doyle, Caroline Ballard-East, Billy Flanagan, Pete Grime, Rob Allerston, Andy Hickey, Dan Spencer and Nathan Cooper - Stats Man
