Following ParalympicsGB's wheelchair rugby gold medal success at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) are now excited to announce that they have secured the World Wheelchair Rugby European Championships 2023 which will be hosted in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium.
With this momentum, GBWR are looking to recruit a Welsh Development Officer to lead our work in Wales and ensure there is a thriving network of clubs and volunteers and raise the profile of wheelchair rugby to reach more people. You will be part of a team of development officers across England and Wales supporting our clubs, workforce and the delivery of competition and events. You will work with key delivery partners such as the Welsh Professional Rugby Clubs, Disability Sport Wales and the Welsh Rugby Union who we partner with to deliver wheelchair rugby opportunities and support and grow our clubs and workforce.
GBWR are seeking an individual with a passion for developing sustainable sporting opportunities for disabled people and being part of our European Championships legacy. You will have good knowledge of sports development principals and practices, be self-motivated, organised and able to work independently, and have experience of working with relevant stakeholders. Experience of working, coaching or volunteering in disability sport and/or wheelchair rugby would be an advantage.
The role is 1 day a week (7.5 hours) and home based with travel around Wales (and England if required). Candidates will be expected to work evenings and weekend when required.
