To mark the finale of the Cardiff Flame Festival, 8 torchbearers will lead a lantern procession carrying Wales’ national flame. The procession will follow a route near the Festival location at Roald Dahl Plass, culminating in the lighting of the cauldron on stage. The approximate timings for the lantern procession are 9.30-10pm.

There is an opportunity for local people and sports groups to participate in the lantern procession, lighting the way for the Welsh flame and playing a key part in the Cardiff Flame Festival.

Prior to the Flame Festivals and Paralympic Flame Lighting Ceremony, lantern making workshops for the procession participants will be held by local artists.

On Wednesday 15 or Sunday 19 August, open lantern making workshops with SWICA will be held at Wales Millennium Centre. There will be two sessions each day 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm. If you are interested in attending a session or for further information please contact education@wmc.org.uk
