Sport Pembrokeshire in collaboration with Disability Sport Wales held the South West Wales Regional Boccia competition last Saturday at Haverfordwest leisure centre. The event was sponsored by Chevron.

The competitors came from Swansea, Aberystwyth and Pembrokeshire.  6 competitors played in groups of 3.  Semi final 1 was between Jenny Batholomew Biggs 4 (Aberystwyth) and Rhodri Tudor 2 (Swansea) and semi final 2 between James Pugh 2 (Pembrokeshire) and Pablo Mortby 7 (Swansea).  The final between Jenny Bartholomew Biggs and Pablo Mortby was  very exciting, at the end of the third end the score was level, the final score after 4 ends was Jenny 4 and Pablo 5.

All winner and runner up were presented with trophies by the director of Disabiity Sport Wales John Morgan and Councillor Huw George.  There was also a special award which was presented to Greg Mott by the Chair of Boccia Wales Julie Whittingham.  The award winners were also presented with a commemorative Royal Mint London 2012 Boccia 50p coin. The referees for the day were Deborah Martin and  Diane Parish from Boccia Wales.  All competitors were also presented with certificates. 

Angela Miles the disability sports development officer for Pembrokeshire said that the level of Boccia being played was extremely high, she was delighted to welcome Jacob Thomas who cam to give his support to his club members of Crymych Panthers  and is pleased that Jacob has now recommenced his training programme after illness.
