A disability sports and play week was a huge Half Term hit in the Vale of Glamorgan, with 38 children from 11 local schools enjoying a range of fun activities at the Cadoxton Sports Hall. 
Organised in partnership by the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Disability Sport Wales Development Officer and Play Development Team, and supported by a Community Focused Schools grant, the packed week featured sports such as football, boccia, dodgeball, tri-golf and badminton, as well as play activities including arts and crafts, mod roc, face painting and lots of Halloween games.
Of the youngsters who took part, 25 had disabilities while 13 were non-disabled, and everyone played happily together. This inclusive nature of the week delighted the Vale Council’s Disability Sport Wales Development Officer Simon Jones, who said: "I think a huge benefit of the week was the fact that disabled children were able to take part in activities with non-disabled children. This helped to improve the awareness of everyone who attended that inclusivity can work really well, with every child gaining something from the week." 
Play Development Worker Katherine Cooper added: "This week was a fantastic opportunity for play and disability sports to come together and offer such an exciting programme for the children and young people attending. The week was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children, young people, staff and volunteers."
