A strong team of 4 athletes were selected to represent Wales, supported by Angela Miles (Team Manager) and Martin Davis (Coach)

BC1 - Rachel Bailey (Sarah Allen - Assistant)

BC2 - Sian Jones

BC3 - Gareth Stafford (Gill Stafford Ramp assistant)

BC4 - Tomas Martin

Rachel and Sian lead out the Welsh contingent with their opening matches, both taking on tough opponents. Rachel and Sian grew through the competition, and both finished the weekend with 1 win and some strong performances under their belts. Rachel was involved in tight matches, often decided by the last ball while Sian played tactically, looking to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Gareth & Gill, an experienced BC3 duet, faced a busy first day of competition with 3 matches in close succession. There we some tight ends that Gareth controlled well to secure points on the board. Although the weekend finished in defeat Gareth was happy with his performances overall.

Tomas Martin, BC4, rose to the challenge. Bouncing back from defeat in rounds 1 and 2, Tom responded with a series of excellent performances to secure a total of 3 match wins, some of which went right to the wire and into a tiebreak. When asked about the competition Tom said

"It was a really good weekend at the UK championships in Warwick University, good performances all round, playing with pride and good positive Boccia! Proud of all the players and coaching staff on what we have achieved this weekend and how we continue to develop boccia in Wales."

The players, now recovering from a busy 2 days of competition, will be returning to training with their clubs in preparation for their next competitions in 2024.
