Para Cycling was first developed by cyclists with visual impairments who competed using tandem bicycles. The sport continued to grow and appeared in the 1984 Paralympic Games with road events included for riders with cerebral palsy.

Now there are events across velodrome and road cycling for riders using bicycles, tandems, tricycles and hand bikes. Many people cycle recreationally in Wales on the road, off-road and on track.
