Following an exciting weekend of racing at the National Canoe Sprint Championships at Nottingham Watersport’s Centre which included the selection trials for the Para Canoe World Championships last weekend (4-5 July), 2 Welsh athletes have been selected for the British team. They will travel to Milan next month to compete in the World Championships of a sport that will be included for the first time in a Paralympic Games in Rio next year.

Samantha Scowen, from Reading, is no stranger to Paralympic Sport having competed at the London 2012 Paralympic Games in the sport of Rowing will compete in the KL3 Kayak event.

Meanwhile Frances Bateman, from Brecon, who is on the GB Talent Confirmation squad looking to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, as her Va'a event VL3 is not on the Rio programme.
