A 13-year-old footballer from Clarbeston Road is the winner of the West Wales region in the Welsh Community Football Awards, sponsored by McDonalds.

Adele Bevan, who has played with the Cleddau Warriors since the age of eight, was awarded Player of the Year in the disability girl category.

She was presented with a plaque and certificate at the Awards, which took place at the Play Football 5 a side centre, during the Swansea Bravehearts disability festival.

Thanks to the experience and confidence Adele has gained with the Cleddau Warriors, she is now playing for Clarbeston Road Football Club’s girls’ team.

One of the coaches at Cleddau Warriors is Huw Bevan, Adele’s dad, who is very proud of his daughter’s achievement.

Angela Miles, Disability Sports Development officer for Pembrokeshire, said: "Adele has blossomed with Cleddau Warriors, and I hope that other players from the club will also make the transition to mainstream club football."
