Disability Sport Wales Gala.
Published:33rd March 2008
Although this year’s entry was lower than previous years 45 swimmers it did not lack quality. There were entries from:
Amman ford Special Unit, Ysgol Emlyn, Ysgol Glan-Y-Mor, Ysgol Gwendraeth, Ysgol Nangaredig, Ysgol Gyfun Pantycelyn, Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade and Towy Salmon Swimming Club.
Congratulations to all swimmers, carers, teachers for the time and effort they made in entering the gala.
It was especially pleasing to see Nantgaredig school present after a two year break. It was a rewarding return, with four pupils invited to the SwanseaStingrays gala at Penlan Leisure Centre on Saturday 12th April. Scott Brook, Gwenno Davies, Hefin Evans and Gwennan Jones.
Also selected to compete at the Stingrays gala are Joshua Middleton and Yosseff El Tawab from Ysgol Gyfun Glan-Y Mor and Jemma Roderick from Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade.
The gala would not have been possible without the help of Coleg Sirgar students timekeeping, Ian Howell Llanelli Swimming Club coach as starter, Marian Williams collating results, Steve Cohen announcer , Wendy Thomas Swansea Stingrays Talent Identification and Disability Sport Wales volunteers.
Councillor Don Davies from the Rural Council presented the medals.
