Tuesday 8th of November was a very important day in the calendar for Disability Sport Wales, Welsh Table Tennis Association, 5 x 60 scheme and local secondary schools.

Jim Munkley M.B.E, the Federation of Disability Sport Wales Academy Head Coach for disability table, 3 Academy players plus a Paralympian player gave exhibition matches and playing advice to 76  pupils from 7 schools in Carmarthenshire.

Aled Howell West Wales Development Coach and Dennis Bromage Director for West Wales area table tennis were also available to help the events run smoothly in Llanelli and Carmarthen Leisure Centre the venue for the 2 respective clubs. Aled and Dennis set up the tables with different elements of table tennis which you would need in a game.

This day was to highlight inclusion into 5 x 60 sessions at their respective schools and to promote the local clubs in Llanelli and Carmarthen. Table tennis is an inclusion sport in the UK School Games for non disabled and disabled pupils.

From this event  it is hoped more pupils who have disabilities will have the confidence to join not only table tennis 5 x 60 sessions at their schools but other sessions that may be of interest to the pupils.

Lisa Pudner the Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Carmarthenshire said "I was delighted to see so many pupils taking part, the Academy players were excellent helping the pupils, the day was very enjoyable, as well as learning a new skill at the same time. A big thanks to Jim, Aled and Dennis the day would not have been such a success without their support."
