Volunteering at the World Championships:

Becoming a volunteer at the Boccia World Championships is a truly unique opportunity to be part of something huge! If you are new to the sport, boccia is a Paralympic sport with no Olympic equivalent. It is a game of intriguing tactics and nail biting tension. One ball can change everything.  The World Championships will be the biggest boccia event in history in this country, making this a very exciting time to be involved as a volunteer. Full details on each role can be found on page 3. Benefits of volunteering with us include;

Volunteer Roles


Time Keeper

  • Role: Timing and scoring of the boccia matches on court via a laptop.
  • Experience / skills: An interest and enthusiasm for sport / major events is desirable. No previous boccia experience is required, full training provided.
  • Attendance commitment: Compulsory volunteer training Wednesday 15th August (afternoon / evening). And attendance at the Teams and Pairs competition Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th August (inclusive), approximately 08.00-18.00 each day.
  • Inclusions: Travel expenses (mileage or standard rail travel) claimable up to a maximum of £50 per person. Lunch, refreshments and volunteer polo tshirt(s) provided.


Event Volunteer (General)

  • Role: Varied role which may include; Information Desk, airport Meet and Greet, hotel volunteer, event storage coordinator, runner / event staff, spectator liaison, social media, opening / closing / medal ceremony support.
  • Experience / skills: An interest and enthusiasm for sport / major events is desirable. No previous boccia experience is required, full training provided.
  • Attendance commitment: Various dates / timings available between Wednesday 9th and Sunday 19th August inclusive. Ideal minimum commitment of 3 days. Please contact to discuss further. 

 

 

  • Inclusions: Travel expenses (mileage or standard rail travel) claimable up to a maximum of £50 per person. Lunch, refreshments and volunteer polo tshirt(s) provided.
