Joshua Baggs, a pupil from Ty Coch Special Needs in Pontypridd, RCT, was at the mainstream water polo tournament this Saturday. His team mates and the coach selected Josh for the Bryn Celynnog Hawks team due to his hard work over the last few months in training.
Josh's mum and dad were worried about taking him as before Josh started 5x60 he was afraid of water and he couldn’t swim. So when I told them of how well he trains and had got in the team they were shocked and very pleased.
Josh played very well on the day and even scored many goals for his team and won the title of "man of the team".
On the day the welsh squad coach, Rohan Monico, identified Josh's skills and gave him tips and encouragement to continue playing.
Josh's parent's feedback was excellent. They were so very happy at how well Josh had played and how well he was welcomed into the mainstream competition. They have now decided to take him to water polo lessons at Llantrisant Leisure Centre on Saturday mornings so that he can progress and hopefully enter more competitions, as that is what Josh enjoys.
Petrinna (coach), Josh's parents and Kathryn Cope (Ysgol Ty Coch’s 5x60 Officer) were very proud of him. He proved himself an asset to Ty Coch School and the Bryn Celynnog Hawks.
