Job Description |
The Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association (GBWBA) has secured funding through Sport England to deliver an exciting club and coach development programme throughout England. Wheelchair basketball in the UK has entered a very exciting period and with the dawn of the ‘playground to podium framework’ being delivered by key agencies in England the sport is in an ideal situation to increase participation and to develop a framework to support clubs and coaches. We are seeking to appoint a full-time Club and Coach Development Manager with a first-class background in development to produce world class programmes and tailor Sport England initiatives to wheelchair basketball. The successful candidate will be an excellent motivator who is creative and innovative in developing clubs, coaches and the workforce of wheelchair basketball. The successful candidate will enable wheelchair basketball to engage with the delivery system of sport in England, developing schemes that encompass the playground to podium framework in areas that include club mark, and the GBWBA coaching and education awards. Overview The Development Manager will lead the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association development programme in Englandthrough Engagement with partners in the delivery system of sport in England, and be the principal liaison with agencies in the delivery of aspects of the playground to podium framework, and other Sport England initiatives related to development. The post is to ensure clubs have the capacity to grow, enhance delivery and increase participation whilst ensuring the infrastructure and provision of coaching across England is both professional and of the highest standard.
Finally the post will assist the Chief Executive in the formulation and presentation of the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association Development Plans.
Education and Training
Coach Education · Develop and implement a framework for the delivery of the GBWBA Grade One and Grade Two Coach Levels. · With the GBWBA Head Coach facilitate the review the GBWBA Coaching Syllabus at Level three and above with a framework and criteria for the delivery of future coach tutor training. · Evaluate and adapt the GBWBA Coaching Syllabus and content to ensure it is UKCC compliant. · Ensure the GBWBA syllabus and educational material is current and a market leader. · Create and develop a web based resource to support current, new and potential coaches.
Coach Education continued. · Maintain a database within the GBWBA main database of current coaches and keep a record on each coach in the country. · Ensure, monitor and evaluate the ‘professional development’ of coaches. · Source funding in regions to deliver coaching and related workforce programmes in the regions. · Act as manager to volunteer coaching tutors. Club Development · Develop new clubs where there is perceived need and support multi-sport clubs wishing to develop wheelchair basketball sections. · Enable clubs to engage in the delivery system of sport inEngland. · Engage in the common aim of partner organisations in the delivery the ‘Playground to Podium’ framework. · Develop a club development strategy and toolkits for wheelchair basketball in England. · Develop links between new and existing clubs so that they are fully integrated in to the ‘Delivery System’ with the relevant partners. · Develop a club development strategy with appropriate targets and time-frames. · Develop the culture and skills within existing clubs to embrace development and the furtherance of wheelchair basketball at a club and regional level. · Encourage and support regional networks of clubs with the introduction of regional associations to increase development, competition and cooperation. · Empower members in clubs to take an active role within the governance and delivery of their clubs, regions and wheelchair basketball in England. · Develop strategies for the development and inclusion of women and junior athletes in clubs. Accreditation · Develop and implement criteria and a framework for the delivery of club mark in wheelchair basketball. · Develop appropriate toolkits, tutors and modules to support accreditation. · Encourage, highlight and transfer good practice in development to other aspects of the work of GBWBA. · Create and develop a web based resource to support clubs undertaking club mark. General · Monitor and evaluate the programme to the Key Performance Indicators detailed in the GBWBA Development Programme for England. · Prepare reports on performance for the Chief Executive and funding agencies. · This list is not exhaustive Monitoring · Develop an effective monitoring and quality assurance system for all clubs to include performance at the varying developmental stages. · Maintain records accurately of all work undertaken. · Evaluate the success of development programmes against the drivers in the GBWBA Development Plan. |
