From baseball, volleyball and hockey to angling, caving and surfing, the Welsh Sports Association represents over 60 National Governing Bodies of sport and physical recreation in Wales... and these members represent over half a million regular sports participants in Wales.

A tough financial climate means that it is more important than ever that we promote the good work of governing bodies and the value of what they do. We also need to help governing bodies to be both innovative and robust in their operation, attracting investment and using it to best effect. We've made great strides in this over the past 2 years, and are now seeking to elect a new board to take this further forward.

Applications are therefore invited from individuals who feel they have the right balance of skills and experience to guide the development of the WSA over the next four years, and who are willing to put themselves forward for election at our AGM on Monday 30th June 2014.

We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Political Influencing
  • Commercial Development
  • Marketing and Communication
  • Member services
  • Leadership
  • Education
  • Welsh Language
  • Outdoor Pursuits
  • Financial budgeting and control
  • Diversity and Inclusion

Post AGM further recruitment will take place, and any areas of skills/experience not met across the elected board members will be prioritised for appointments

Welsh Sports Association Board Directors are unpaid, but normal out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Board meetings are usually held at Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff.

Further information and an application form are available below. If you require additional information please email Anne Hamilton, General Manager Anne.hamilton@welshsports.org.uk or Anne Ellis, Current Chair, anne@anne75.orangehome.co.uk.

Closing date for applications: Monday 19th May 2014.
