Football, cricket, water polo and diving were enjoyed by more than 100 students with disabilities from eight schools from across Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Disability Sport Wales development officers and Rhondda Cynon Taf 5x60 officers ran the Disability/5x60 Olympic Festival day, which included RCT special schools and the SEN departments of mainstream high schools.

It was the first 5x60 SEN festival in which pupils from mainstream schools in the county borough were invited to take part.

Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Cllr Robert Bevan, said: "This was a hugely successful and fun day and the feedback from teachers has been very positive. The organisers are now hoping to make this a regular event each term."

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Equalities, Cllr Annette Davies, added: "It is fantastic to see the children doing so well at events such as these and proving that they can overcome disadvantage and compete with such enthusiasm."
