Weightlifting
First featured at the 1984 Paralympic games, para powerlifting requires strength, technical ability, and mental toughness. Lifters compete in weight categories and in male or female categories. There are three attempts permitted in competition. The lifter with the highest bench press in their category is the winner.

Eligibility
To compete in Para Powerlifting in a Paralympic pathway, a person must have an eligible impairment type. The eligible impairment types for Para Powerlifting are:

Impaired muscle power

Impaired passive range of movement

Limb deficiency

Leg length difference

Short stature
-
Hypertonia
-
Athetosis
-
Ataxia
