Impact Neurofit: Delivering inclusive fitness in South Wales

Impact NeuroFit CIC is a community-led initiative delivering inclusive fitness, boxing, and wellbeing programmes for neurodivergent individuals and people with additional needs across South Wales.

April 2026

Key barriers identified:

  • Lack of accessible and inclusive sport provision
  • Coaching that does not adapt to individual needs
  • Low confidence and limited exposure to structured physical activity
  • Social anxiety and lack of supportive environments

Without intervention, these barriers lead to long-term inactivity and reduced wellbeing.

Person-centred

Impact NeuroFit uses a person-centred, adaptive delivery model:

  • Flexible Session Design
  • Sessions are adapted in real-time based on participant needs
  • Builds trust, familiarity, and psychological safety
  • Structured but Low-Pressure Environment
  • Clear format with freedom to adapt
  • Positive Reinforcement Model
  • Focus on progress, not performance
  • Inclusive Group Delivery
  • Encourages social interaction without pressure

Why this matters

  • Over 70% of disabled people report barriers to participating in sport (UK-wide insight)
  • Community-led programmes like Impact NeuroFit directly address this gap
  • The model demonstrates a scalable, low-cost, high-impact solution

Future Focus

  • Expand to 3+ additional community hubs across South Wales
  • Increase reach to 50+ participants per week
  • Secure funding to deliver free access for low-income participants
  • Develop a replicable inclusive coaching framework for wider rollout

Impact NeuroFit has delivered measurable outcomes across participation, engagement, and wellbeing:

  • 20+ participants engaged weekly across sessions
  • 80–90% average attendance rate, showing strong retention
  • 100% of participants reported increased confidence (informal feedback)
  • Improved physical activity levels across all regular attendees
  • Consistent weekly structure established for participants with additional needs
