Inclusive physical activity opportunities for children and young people in lockdown
It can be difficult to find out what is available for children and young people to help them stay active during lockdown. Being active is so important to a child’s mental and physical health – which is why we’ve compiled a short list of activities that you could access during this time.
RESOURCES AND LINKS FOR KEEPING KIDS ACTIVE
- The Welsh Rugby Union have put together a series of inclusive sessions you can follow together at home https://community.wru.wales/video/jersey-for-all/
- Urdd are offering a range of virtual sport activities in the medium of Welsh, through the #ActifAdref programme.
- Disability Sport Wales have a number of live sessions throughout the week which you can join in by registering here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/disability-sport-wales-25766897481
- Dancing is a great way to keep fit - moving muscles you never knew you had all from your front room! Welsh language dance fit company Dawns i Bawb are running classes for young people for a small fee.
- Every weekday at 9.30am, the Ceredigion Actif AYP Team staff run live YouTube sessions following the ‘Ffit yn 5’ programme (delivered in Welsh language). Videos will remain on their YouTube playlist so they can be accessed or repeated any time.
- Sport Cardiff deliver inclusive Family Fun sessions for disabled children aged 3 to 10 and their families. This takes place on Zoom on Sundays from 11am for approximately 40 minutes. https://t.co/gcjKjLqPrF?amp=1
- Pembrokeshire Leisure have developed an App for live sessions and anytime pre-recorded sessions, these are all available free of charge: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/pembs-leisure/id1452789051
