London 2012 golden girl Josie Pearson won silver in the IPC European Athletics Championships in Swansea.
Pearson finished behind Great British team-mate women’s F32/51 club throw Joanna Butterfield who produced a European record of 17.68m which collected 1110 points and clinch the gold.
Pearson, from Hay on Wye produced an effort of 14.02m for 941 points, revealed she had been unsettled during the competition.
“It was quite a frustrating competition for me,” said Pearson.
"There was a technical issue with the way I was throwing and they were pulling me up on it.
“All season the rule changes have been in place but this is the first time someone has pulled me up on it. It’s just a shame it happened in a European Championships.
“I’m pleased with a silver medal in what is my second choice event – so I can’t complain.”
Pearson insists she is right on track for Rio 2016. The 28-year-old won discus gold at London 2012 but has been concentrating on the F32/51 club throw in the build-up to Brazil.
Pearson insists silver at her first European Championships can go down as another landmark achievement as the journey to Rio hots up.
“I’m really pleased, this year I’ve improved, I’ve PB’ed throughout the season – unfortunately not here,” said Pearson.
“This is my first European Championships, I’d not been to one before and to be able to compete on home turf in front of a home crowd with all my family and friends is just the most incredible feeling.
“London by far was the best experience of my life but to have a major championship literally on my door step is incredible.”
