Aims for achieving insport Partnerships Ribbon Standard

Suggested support for each of the aims can be uploaded on to the insport portal. A Case Officer will have access to the portal to view any support that the organisation have uploaded against the aims for each insport Standard, and will either approve or suggest recommendations in order to achieve the aim. It is the organisation’s responsibility to facilitate the demonstration of each aim.


Aims:

1. Workforce Development

  • Identify a lead officer and senior leader to champion inclusion.

  • Review the training needs of all key staff relating to inclusion.

  • A commitment that Board/SLT and core staff attend disability inclusion training

 

2. Programme Support

  • To identify existing provision/pathways linked to your sector, for disabled people.

  • Ensure that marketing, promotional activities and resources begin to depict sport provision as inclusive.

 

3. Organisation

  • Establish commitment at Board/SLT level to work towards an inclusive philosophy of development for the organisation.

  • To establish a baseline of disability users by collecting data.

  • Complete a mapping exercise of relevant key stakeholders.

  • Have a commitment to disseminate to key partners and stakeholders, the organisation’s commitment to inclusion.

  • Review existing safeguarding processes and policies to determine the representation of disabled children and adults at risk.

  • Commitment to achieving insport Partnerships Bronze Standard

  • Confirmation letter from the Board/SLT identifying the name of the person and core member of staff who will champion and lead inclusion

  • Minutes of the Board/SLT meeting where the champion/lead board member/SLT is recorded

  • Minutes from staff meeting where the champion/lead core staff member is recorded

  • Role descriptions for person who has responsibility for inclusion/equity/equality

  • Job description for the staff member who will take the lead/champion inclusion/equity/equality for the organisation

  • Board/SLT skills matrix including inclusion

Review the training needs of all key staff relating to inclusion
  • Written or diagrammatic review of highlighted staff training records, identifying attendance at disability inclusion/awareness training.
  • Results of the consultation with key staff and colleagues

  • Annotated reflections and comments relating to the organisations view of need linked to training

A commitment that Board/SLT and core staff attend disability inclusion training
  • Certification which identifies that Board members and/or SLT and core staff have attended an appropriate disability inclusion training workshop
  • A date confirmed with DSW (or another DIT provider) to deliver a workshop to the Board/SLT and core staff AND a list of names of those individuals who have confirmed their availability to attend.

To identify existing provision/pathways linked to your sector, for disabled people

  • Diagrammatic representation of the player pathway for the type of active recreation or physical activity (including sport).

  • Documented discussion relating to how the player pathway is populated, and how the active recreation/physical activity (including sport) structure supports engagement throughout the pathway of disabled people.  This might be documented in staff meeting notes, or notes recorded by the Case Officer.

Ensure that marketing, promotional activities and resources begin to depict sport provision as inclusive
  • Case Officers will review all electronic and print materials which are circulated or available for promotional purposes.  Links to electronic resources and copies of print materials should be supplied to the Case Officer by the insport Lead Officer, or someone else within the organisation.

Establish commitment at Board/SLT level to work towards an inclusive philosophy of development for the organisation.

  • ​​​​​​Case Officer attendance at meetings in which Board/SLT representatives identify their support
  • Written agreement on behalf of Board/SLT to build an inclusive philosophy

  • Case officer discussions with Board members/SLT regarding their commitment to inclusions within the sport

  • Sight of minutes from Board/SLT meetings attesting to Board/SLT commitment to inclusion within the sport

  • Written statement of inclusion. 

  • Recorded discussion with the Case Officer surrounding the decision making process regarding the communication of the statement to members

  • Case Officer to have sight of statement provided in alternative formats (if applicable) and be comfortable that it is a good starting point and confident that the organisation has made decisions about its wording based on best practice at this stage.

To establish a baseline of disability users by collecting data
  • Raw data documents referring to the numeric information relating to disability/impairment

  • Link to your data collection mechanisms, and inclusion within that of questions relating to disability/impairment

  • Infographic relating to your engagement with, and statistics for disabled people within your provision

  • Segmentation documents relating to the take up of your activities (activities linked to your organisation) by disabled people

  • Reference to reports or policy documents which cite your data regarding disabled people’s engagement

  • Equality Monitoring documentation referring to disabled peoples’ representation within the organisation (including membership and other roles within the organisation (i.e. coaches, officials, core staff, Board members/Trustees, etc.)

  • Proposal to Board/SLT for the inclusion of additional questions into established data monitoring systems​​​​​​

Complete a mapping exercise of relevant key stakeholders
  • Mapping document showing range of key stakeholders.

  • Documentation and communication with stakeholders

  • Joint projects/outcomes​​​​​​​​

Have a commitment to disseminate to key partners and stakeholders, the organisation’s commitment to inclusion.

  • Written commitment to the dissemination of information regarding insport and inclusion to partners and sector provision they may also have (clubs, sessions, etc)

  • Verbal, written, or diagrammatic representation of the organisation’s proposed method for communication of insport and inclusion

Review existing safeguarding processes and policies to determine the representation of disabled children and adults at risk

  • Adults at Risk policy and procedures (if already developed and used)

  • Highlighted sections of policy which are intended to safeguard the welfare of adults but referenced within broader ranging welfare/safeguarding policy

  • Policy development (or review) matrix which references Adults at Risk as policy for the future
  • Reference to policy provided by a partner organisation to which your organisation abides by
  • Documented discussion at Board or core staff level regarding findings of the review of Welfare Policies, and proposed actions OR proposal to Board for review of welfare policy with a specific regard to Adults at Risk
Commitment to achieving insport Bronze Standard
  • This will be demonstrated within the presentation made to panel, but may also be identified in writing by the Chair of the Board, or by the Chief Executive (or equivalent) Officer.

  • A letter or equivalent from each of the key partners supporting the organisation as they work towards the delivery of their insport goals, identifying the inclusive nature of their working and challenge.​​​​​
