Roles and Responsibilities of Individuals and Groups

The following table outlines the key roles and responsibilities of individuals and groups involved in the insport process. and how the roles are quality assured. This Quality Assurance ensures that insport programmes ares applied consistently and that all stakeholders understand expectations, roles, and required standards.


insport Senior Officer (SO)

Responsiblity

  • Leads the strategic direction of the insport programme. This role is a permanent role in the DSW structure.
     

Quality Assurance Measures (QA)

  • Appointment is made by formal recruitment processes.
  • Role managed by the Governance and Partnerships Director. Accountable to insport Board.
  • Outcomes of insport linked to DSW Data Measures

insport Case Officer (CO)

Responsiblity

  • Provides ongoing support and guidance to organisations (DSW roles).
  • CO roles can also be performed by the SO and part-time individuals who have the appropriate skill set and experience regarding disability sport and inclusion.
     

Quality Assurance Measures (QA)

  • Roles recruited based on need and skill and experience matrix.
  • Roles directed by SO and work in partnership to support insport NGBs and organisations.

insport Lead Officer (LO)

Responsiblity

  • Acts as a facilitator and is the point of contact between the CO and the organisation.

  • Supports the organisation by making the transition from where they are now, with regards to inclusion, to where they want to be in the future.
     

Quality Assurance Measures (QA)

  • This individual is selected internally within the organisation being supported.

  • The CO will work with the organisation to support the chosen individual or suggest an alternative.

  • LOs are given opportunities to attend communities of practice or learning sessions at least four (4) times per year.


insport Panel Members

Responsiblity

  • Panel members review evidence uploaded to the insport Portal.

  • Attend insport panel meetings to make decisions about whether an insport standard should be awarded.
     

Quality Assurance Measures (QA)

  • Independent individuals who have been identified by the insport Board and recruited to support the insport process.

  • Recruitment is based on their skills and experiences across the sector.

  • insport Panel Members are selected (from a group of potential recruited insport Panel Members) on a panel basis to ensure we have the most appropriate individuals.

  • insport panels will be comprise of:

    • 2 independent panel members (1 of whom will act as Chair)

    • 1 member of DSW team (not insport Case Officer)1 member of Sport Wales (selected by DSW SW Relationship Manager).

    • Panel members are selected and rotated across different panel dates to allow variety of voices throughout the insport process.

  • Panel members will receive 1 annual training session per year regarding insport to ensure knowledge of programme is up to date, including:

    • Understanding of inclusive practice

    • Understanding of the Welsh sport sector and relevant policy areas 

    • Relevant prompts and support

    • Unconscious bias


Internal Verifier

Responsiblity

  • Three weeks prior to each panel meeting, and internal verifier reviews the support uploaded by scheduled organisations.
     

Quality Assurance Measures

  • DSW member of staff who quality assures the insport Standards process to ensure it is valid, reliable, and consistent.  Their responsibilities include sampling and reviewing documentation uploaded to the insport Portal and making sure that resources, meet the required Standard.
