insport Quality Assurance Framework
The purpose of this Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) is to ensure that the Disability Sport Wales (DSW) insport Programme is delivered consistently, transparently, and to a high standard across all strands and organisations. The framework enables DSW to monitor effectiveness, maintain the integrity of the programme, and support continuous improvement in the provision of inclusive and accessible physical activity (including sport) opportunities for disabled people.
This QAF provides a structured approach to ensure that all resources and processes connected with the insport programme meet or exceed quality expectations of the purpose and intentions of insport.
Introduction to insport
The insport programme is a Disability Sport Wales initiative designed to help organisations deliver inclusive physical activity, sport, and leisure opportunities, ensuring that everyone “can have a lifelong enjoyment of sport” (Sport Wales). Disability Sport Wales supports this vision through four strategic priorities:
- Establishing an effective partnership for an inclusive sector culture.
- Empowering an inclusive workforce.
- Enabling robust inclusive pathways.
- Creating sector -leading, healthy, and accountable, organisation
As they work towards an insport Standard(s), the organisation will be encouraged to:
- Identify and develop pathways, networks, and structures to provide opportunities for disabled people to achieve their full potential at an appropriate level (whether in participating, volunteering, coaching, or officiating).
- Ensure disabled people are seen as participants, volunteers, coaches, or officials, where their ability and skill level is reinforced and emphasised rather than their ‘disability’ or impairment.
- Meaningfully involve disabled people within their organisation's clubs, centres, and associations.
- Develop and coordinate programmes for disabled people.
- Educate staff, coaches, and instructors about opportunities for including disabled people within all their organisation's activities.
- Actively and positively promote an inclusive approach throughout all communication.
- Recognise that inclusion is about providing the most appropriate and meaningful opportunity to disabled and non-disabled people.
